Biblical Studies
Certificate in Biblical Studies Overview
The Certificate in Biblical Studies is designed for persons who are not able to pursue a master’s degree but would like to deepen their knowledge of the Bible, both for personal enrichment and for teaching in the church.
This certificate program requires a total of 17-18 credit hours of study, including introductory and advanced courses in Old Testament and New Testament and at least one course focusing on practical application suitable for the student’s own context.
Certificate in Biblical Studies Curriculum
(17-18 credit hours)
All of the following courses:
DIVI1100, New Testament I (3 hrs.)
DIVI1200, Old Testament I (3 hrs.)
DIVI1101, New Testament II (3 hrs.)
DIVI1201, Old Testament II (3 hrs.)
At least one course from the following:
DIVI1149, Special Topics in New Testament (2-3 hrs.)
DIVI1150, New Testament Exposition (3 hrs.)
DIVI1249, Special Topics in Old Testament (2-3 hrs.)
DIVI1250, Old Testament Exposition (3 hrs.)
DIVI1310, New Testament Greek I (3 hrs.)
DIVI1330, Biblical Hebrew I (3 hrs.)
At least one course from the following:
DIVI6141, Teaching the Bible with Youth and Adults (3 hrs.)
DIVI4300, The Ministry of Preaching (3 hrs.)
